High-temperature performance of slag-based Fe-rich alkali-activated materials

چکیده

Fe-rich alkali-activated materials have been studied for their suitability high-temperature application up to 1000 °C. The evolution of compressive strength, mineral composition and microstructure was monitored using FT-IR, XRD, TGA SEM-WDS the pastes mortars obtained by alkali activation fayalite wüstite non-ferrous slags. For both binders, changes in strength revealed moderate fluctuations below 400 °C due water evaporation, a sharp drop 25 MPa at 600 collapse original gel structure, reinforcement above sintering densification formation gehlenite-åkermanite or diopside-albite ceramic. An extensive reaction quartz aggregate with sodium-rich binder resulted an iron silicate phase that contributed further increase 70 increasing temperature time heating.

Use of Slag/Sugar Cane Bagasse Ash (SCBA) Blends in the Production of Alkali-Activated Materials

Blast furnace slag (BFS)/sugar cane bagasse ash (SCBA) blends were assessed for the production of alkali-activated pastes and mortars. SCBA was collected from a lagoon in which wastes from a sugar cane industry were poured. After previous dry and grinding processes, SCBA was chemically characterized: it had a large percentage of organic matter (ca. 25%). Solutions of sodium hydroxide and sodium...

SELF-Cured Alkali Activated Slag Concrete Mixes- An Experimental Study

Alkali Activated Slag Concrete (AASC) mixes are manufactured by activating ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBFS) using sodium hydroxide and sodium silicate solutions. The aim of the present experimental research was to investigate the effect of increasing the dosages of sodium oxide (Na2O, in the range of 4 to 8%) and the activator modulus (Ms) (i.e. the SiO2/Na2O ratio, in the range of ...

The Interfacial Transition Zone in Alkali-Activated Slag Mortars

The interfacial transition zone (ITZ) is known to strongly influence the mechanical and transport properties of mortars and concretes. This paper studies the ITZ between siliceous (quartz) aggregates and alkali-activated slag (AAS) binders in the context of mortar specimens. Backscattered electron (BSE) images generated in an environmental scanning electron microscope (ESEM) are used to identif...

HIGH TEMPERATURE ELASTIC PROPERTIES OF REFRACTORY MATERIALS

Abstract: A pulse-echo technique, based on ultrasonic "long-bar" mode (LBM) velocity measurements, working up to 1700°C is described. Magnetostrictive transducers and ultrasonic lines used in a 40-85 kHz frequency range are detailed. The conditions of choice of fundamental parameters (frequency, line geometry, sample size) are discussed in relation with the nature and the microstructure of ...
